Merry Christmas

Dear Parishioners,

I hope that you had a wonderful Christmas celebration with your family. As the Christmas song says, “There’s no place like home for the holidays.” Another Christmas song says, “I’ll be home for Christmas.” It is wonderful to be with family for the holidays, especially at Christmas time.

This weekend we remember that Joseph, Mary and the Christ child were a family. This weekend we celebrate the feast of the Holy Family! The Holy Family gives us an example of living holiness. Each member of the Holy Family lived holiness. We are called to help each of our family members to grow in holiness.

The Holy Family was a family of faith. They prayed together and worshipped together. Each of our families should be a family of faith. Each family should pray together and worship together. Remember the old saying, “The family that prays together, stays together!”

Each of the members of the Holy Family knew the scriptures well. They read them and studied them. They especially put into practice God’s Holy Word. Jesus would grow up to be the Word Made Flesh! Each of our families should read and study the scriptures too. And we know we are called to live the scriptures too!

The Holy family had great love and care for one another. They supported one another and helped one another. They truly were a Domestic Church. In our family, we should always have great love and care for one another, and support and help one another. Our family should always work at being a Domestic Church.

Let us seek the intercessions of the Holy Family for each of our families that we may grow in holiness, faith, in living the scriptures, and in love and care for one another. Let us ask the holy Spirit to help each of our families to be a Domestic Church.

Let us ask the Holy Family to continue to bless our Parish family of St. Mary’s.
Holy Family, Pray for us!
